Delivering the Schnurmacher Lecture at Fairfield University, CT
Rabbi Yoffie will deliver this year’s Adolph and Ruth Schnurmacher Lecture in Judaic Studies at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. The the lecture will be held on October 29, 2013, 7:30 p.m. at the Dolan School of Business. The title of the lecture is: “American Jews Look at a Changing Israel: Peace, Prosperity, and Religious Pluralism in the Jewish State.”
“With the Middle East in turmoil, I will look at how the current unrest in Syria and Egypt impacts Israel’s leadership and people,” said Yoffie, the president emeritus of the Union for Reform Judaism, the congregational arm of the Reform movement in North America. “I will also examine the growing importance of religious freedom and religious pluralism in the politics of Israel, and will discuss how American Jews relate to Israel in these difficult times.”
Free and open to the public, the event is presented by the University’s Carl and Dorothy Bennett Center for Judaic Studies, and is made possible through the generosity of the Adolph and Ruth Schnurmacher Foundation.
