Transitions, Turning Points and Torah: Israel’s Nation-State Bill
Welcome to my third podcast in a series I call “Transitions, Turning points, and Torah.”
In this podcast, I talk about Israel’s nation-state bill, which has caused an uproar in Israel and among Jews throughout the world. On the one hand, it affirms that Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people–an important and well-established point. On the other hand, by failing to mention that all Israelis are guaranteed legal equality, it manages to offend every non-Jewish citizen of Israel. I discuss these and other points, including the unfortunate way that the law deals with the Arabic language and with Israel-Diaspora relations.
